The no-bullshit promise
This is our promise to you: no bullshit, not ever.
This site carries advertising, which is always clearly marked as such. Everything else comes from the heart. If we recommend a website, it is because we think you’ll find it useful. If we review a restaurant, it is because we ate there and enjoyed it. Not because we got a free meal and not because we get paid for a link.
There are two things which we both recommend and that can potentially earn us money.
Our search engine is a customised version of the main Google engine, which is tweaked to give you results more in keeping with your requirements as a reader of this site. Google serves advertising alongside those search results, as it always does, and if you find those ads useful and click on them we stand the chance of sharing some of the revenue with Google.
Similarly, our bookstore is an Amazon associate store. We hand-pick the titles in it because we think they rock. If you buy one (from Amazon – we play no part in the ordering or shipping process) then Amazon pays us a tiny commission.
That’s it. There are no other or hidden ways in which the site pays for its own upkeep. We’ll make fun of the way you dress. We’ll insult your inferior country of origin. We’ll even mess with your head and tell you lies that will get you beat up when you visit South Africa. But we’ll never take money behind your back and then screw you over.
